Wilma R. Hatch
Obituary
Wilma R. Hatch died on Jan. 15, 2023 at the Center for Extended Care in Amherst. She had been a resident there for over a year. She was 92 years old.
Wilma was born Oct. 17, 1930 along with her twin, William. They and their four other siblings; Janice, Earle, Robert and Almond grew up on a dairy farm in Cummington.
She was married to Robert Sears in 1949 and they had three children; Joanne, Nathan and Dianne. She was later married to Frank Hatch in 1963 and they had two daughters, Judith and Suzanne.
Wilma loved to sew and taught 4-H sewing in the late 50’s. Many Halloween costumes were made for her children.
Her favorite thing in life was to be outside! She walked daily into her late 80’s. She did a lot of hiking with her daughters and taught them about wildflowers that grow in the woods. She also went a many bike rides with her two youngest daughters, making an adventure out of the day.
She had a love of gardening and had prize winning flowers at the Cummington Fair.
She always said she would rather be in the barn than helping her mother with the housework!
A graveside service will be announced in the spring.
