Ruth M. (Joy) Giard

Ruth M. (Joy) Giard, 90, passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2025.

Ruth was born in Colrain on May 30, 1934 the daughter of Jesse and Bessie (Herzig) Joy.

After raising her nine children, she was employed as a machinist for the Mayhew Steel Company in Shelburne Falls for many years.

Her loving family she leaves behind include sons Donald Jr. and Raymond, both of Colrain, daughters Mary Eggert of Halifax, VT, Janet Delisle of Heath, Anita Michonski of Shelburne Falls, Ruth Coutu of Ashfield, Rose Cole of Colrain and Cynthia Allen of Colrain, 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband Donald A. Giard, Sr in 2018 and a son Michael in 1960.

A graveside service will take place in the spring at West Branch Cemetery in Colrain.
