Robert R. Caffelle, 74, of 75 Wells St., passed away at home on December 19, 2023.
Bob was born on October 18, 1949, the second of five boys born of W. Charles and Ruth (Pierce) Caffelle. He graduated from Brockton High School, class of 1967.
In November of 1969 he enlisted with the US Navy and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1975. Bob was extremely proud of the Navy as well as all the branches of military and the men and women who serve and have served our country. He was a life-time member of the American Legion Post 40 in Plymouth as well as the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 2758 in Shelburne Falls.
Prior to retirement Bob was employed as a crew chief in the grocery business, the longest tenure with Big Y Supermarket in Kingston, MA
On May 29, 1976 Bob married a girl he had known since they were both children, Mary Daly. Marriage years were 47 but they were together for more like 73 years.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished his family. He was especially proud of his grandson Malcolm and all of his accomplishments.
He enjoyed getting together with his many cousins at family reunions at the “camp” in Canton, CT
In his leisure time Bob and Mary enjoyed traveling to destinations like Bermuda and Alaska.
Survivors include his wife Mary, sons Jeffrey Caffelle of Norton, MA and Russell (Lisa) Caffelle of East Wareham, MA, daughter Catherine Briggs and grandson Malcolm Briggs of Buckland, brothers Donald (Patti) Caffelle of Amherst, NH and Stephen (Nicole) Caffelle of Norton, MA, sister-in-law Diane Caffelle, cousin Harrison (Colleen) Barrows of Buckland, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by brothers William and David Caffelle and by his son-in-law Mathew L. Briggs.
Military Honors for Bob will be observed Friday, February 16, 2024 at 10:15 am at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life will take place the same day from 12 noon until 4 pm at the Plymouth American Legion Post 40, 199 Federal Furnace Rd., Plymouth
