Richard D. Cranson, 88, passed away at home on May 13, 2025.
He was born in Montague, MA on December 25, 1936 the son of Howard and Elinor (Pollen) Cranson. He grew up in Ashfield and after graduating from Sanderson Academy, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
He was a truck driver for companies based in the Springfield, MA area and delivered products all over New England. Most recently he was employed by F.L. Roberts.
A motorcycle enthusiast since his teen years, Richard was still riding up until the day of his passing at age 88. He was independent, self-efficient and met every obstacle as a challenge. If he didn’t know the answer, he would figure it out and move on.
A talented golfer throughout his life, he was a proud member of the Ashfield Golf Club and served as president at one time.
He enjoyed listening to country music and had a favorite local band or two that he would travel to see them play. He was a pretty good dancer as well. He would often be approached by ladies asking him to dance and he rarely said no. He loved the music and he loved to dance.
