On June 2nd, 2024 Richard A. Bartlett passed away at home surrounded by his family due to declining health.
Richard was born in Sunderland, MA on October 23, 1936 the son of Frank Eugene Bartlett and Annie (Korpeter) Bartlett. He was raised in Buckland, MA and after graduating from Arms Academy in 1954 he joined the U.S. Navy for three years and attained the rank of radioman 2nd class Petty Officer.
He met and later married Teresa Martino on June 4, 1960. They raised two children Stephen Michael and Lucy Angela.
He worked for the Erving Paper Mill for a few years, then as a computer programmer at Bendix Corp., then Millers Falls Tool Co., and the Peerless Insurance Co. in Keene, NH. He finished his career at the University of Massachusetts as a senior systems analyst, retiring in 2003.
He was an avid fisherman in lakes, rivers and deep sea fishing. He also loved playing golf with his brother Thomas as well as his friends.
He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church where he served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister for many years.
He leaves a son Stephen Bartlett of Indianapolis, IN, a daughter Lucy Ravish and son-in-law Brian Ravish of South Deerfield, his two grandchildren Alexander M. Miner of Leland, NC and Hannah J. Ravish, brother Thomas (Barbara) Bartlett of Bernardston, MA, brother Kenneth Bartlett of Marina, CA, sister Joan (Donald) Hanson of Corinth, ME, half-brother Robert Pietraszek of Turners Falls, MA as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years Teresa Bartlett, brother Eugene Bartlett and his wife Dorothy.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 22 at 11:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church of the Blessed Trinity Parish. Committal prayers and Military Honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
