Richard L Bardwell, Jr, 66 of Buckland, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield MA, surrounded by his family, due to a brave, but short battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He was born in Greenfield, MA, on May 27, 1954 to the late Richard L Bardwell and Helen (Needham) Bardwell. Rick was married to Lisa (Horrocks) Bardwell for 39 years.

He was a proud & dedicated firefighter with the Shelburne Falls Fire Department, joining in 1988 as a firefighter/EMT and became chief in June of 2004 until he retired in November 2018. He was a much-loved mentor to many of the public safety members serving Shelburne Falls.
Rick graduated from Mohawk Trail Regional in 1972 and continued his education at Greenfield Community College earning a degree in graphic design. He went on to work for Agway as store manager and feed driver; then for Josh Simpson Glass as a glassblower and worked until his illness as a shop manager and driver for CountryScape, his son, Justin’s, business.
Rick will be remembered for his calm and kind demeanor, sly sense of humor and appreciation for music and the arts. He was a musician at heart and loved to play the guitar. He inspired his grandchildren’s love of music.
