Penny L. (Patch) Kurra

Penny L. (Patch) Kurra, 74, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023 with her family by her side.

Penny was born in Greenfield on February 24, 1949 the daughter of Lowell and Shirley (Warfield) Patch. She was a graduate of Pioneer Valley Regional High School and the Kay Harvey Cosmetology school.

In February of 1970 she was married to Roy Kurra, who was serving with the US Navy, stationed in Newport, RI. They moved to Bernardston in 1972 where they built their home. Sadly, Roy predeceased Penny on May 10, 2019. They had celebrated 49 years together.

Penny enjoyed painting, ceramics and at one time operated a small upholstery repair business out of her home. She was proud of the gardens around her home that she maintained on a daily basis. She was also a member of the Catamount Hill Association. Penny and Roy traveled frequently, they went camping as a family and in the later years spent many winters in Florida.

Penny’s loving family includes two sons; Heath Kurra and his wife LeighAnn of Winchester, NH, Nathan Kurra and his wife Audrey Raza of Pittsfield, MA, two grandchildren Victor and Juliette, two brothers; Lowell Patch and John Patch, a sister Marjorie Patch Jones, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 29, at 10:00 am at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 40 Church St., Shelburne Falls. Burial will immediately follow in Center Cemetery, next to the Mary Lyon Church on Upper Street in Buckland.
