Patrick Lyman Obituary

Patrick (Pat) Lyman, age 63, died of lung cancer on March 12, 2022 at Athol Memorial Hospital. Pat was born on July 12, 1958 to Dick and Glady (Parsons) Lyman. He attended Bement School in Old Deerfield, Greenfield High School and Franklin County Technical School.

He was “a man of few words”, loved animals, was an expert in electronics and enjoyed biking when he was young. His father died in 1976 when Pat was a teenager.

He is survived by his mother Glady, two sisters, Paula Rugg (Jonathan) and Cynthia Donahue (Patrick), 4 nieces, 2 nephews and his aunt and uncle, Joan and Fred Ebeling. He also leaves his aunts Barbara Teranes, Linda Parish, Mitzi Lyman and his uncle Doug Lyman and many cousins.

His family sincerely thanks the staff and residents of the ServiceNet group home in Orange, MA where he lived for many years. Pat’s life was not easy and the caring and love in that home was evident. He was happy living there and will be missed by the many friends he made.

We are also grateful to the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home for the compassionate help in making the final arrangements for Pat to be cremated and buried in Green River Cemetery alongside his Dad and paternal grandparents, Art and Helen Lyman. There are no services planned at this time.

Donations to the American Cancer Society are welcome for anyone who so wishes. In honor of him and all who struggle with mental illness in any form, please support ServiceNet and the research and treatment of mental illness.

For fun, in his memory, you could adopt a cat or a dog, feed the birds, plant a tree, take a bike ride or have some fish sticks and french fries (his favorite meal on Friday nites) and follow it with a huge bowl of ice cream (his favorite food at any time).
