Patricia C. (O'Brien) Spees

Patricia C. (O’Brien) Spees, 74, of 67 Ranney Corner Rd., Ashfield, died Sunday, October 14, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.

She was born in Worcester, MA, November 2, 1943, the daughter of John G. and Ethel (Anastrom) O’Brien.

She was a 2003 magnum cum laud graduate of Mt. Holyoke College. 

Until retirement in 2016 Pat was employed in the theatre department at Mt. Holyoke.

She was an excellent quilter and seamstress.  She also enjoyed gardening and “picking blueberries”.

Survivors besides her husband of 45 years Mark Spees include 3 sons John Gould of Worcester, Matthew Gould of Enfield, CT., Christopher Gould of Greenfield; 1 daughter Elizabeth Holmes of Ashfield; her nephew Timothy O’Brien of Turners Falls; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.   

 She was predeceased by her sister Geraldine O’Brien.

A celebration of life gathering will be held Friday, November 2, from 1-3 pm at Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home in Shelburne Falls.

In lieu of flowers it is suggested donations be made to Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society, 163 Montague Rd., Leverett, MA  01054.
