Obituary

Michael E. Royer, 68, of Gardner Falls Rd., died at home on Sept. 1, 2022, with his family by his side.

Mike was born in Greenfield on Sept. 26, 1953 the son of Ernest and Helen (Arabia) Royer. He was one of seven boys. He graduated from Greenfield Technical School.

He was a machinist for different companies in the area, but also was a talented carpenter, mechanic and auto body tech. He loved working on cars and was a Chevy guy through and through. He went to many car shows to admire the older cars and projects that his friends had been working on. As is tradition at car shows, participants are known to do a burn-out when they leave. Mike was proud to do his own smoke show whenever he could. One of his favorite trips each year was to the Adirondack Nationals in Lake George, NY which is happening this weekend. He will be there in spirit.

Having coffee every morning at Foxtowne with the guys was a daily ritual for Mike.

While his interests may have involved his cars, he loved hunting in Tennessee with his brothers. Family meant the most to Mike. When Mike and Missy got together over thirty years ago, their love for their children didn’t include the word ‘step’, we are one family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Family gatherings at his home, picnics with his grandchildren, or any occasion where the family was together - Mike was smiling. Everyone was welcome at his home and he was always available to help anyone in need.

Mike’s family includes his wife whom he married on Aug. 21, 1993, Melissa “Missy” (Bruffee) Royer, two sons, Jeremy (Leanne) Royer of Altamont, NY, Andrew (Monica) Royer of Worthington, MA, three daughters, Stephanie (Jeremy) Fugler of Greenfield, Haley Connelley of Greenfield, and Kayla (Jamie) Matosky of Northfield, eight grandchildren; Brianna, Andrew Jr., Isabella, Alissa and Weston Royer, Jake and Abigail Fugler, and Charlotte Matosky, 6 brothers; Peter Royer of N.C., Kenneth Royer of Gill, Tim Royer of Hendersonville, TN, Ernie Royer of Leyden, Chris Royer of Cross Plains, TN and Adam Royer of Springfield, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services for family will be private. A celebration of life for family and friends will be held Friday, Sept. 23 at Chadwick Memorial Field (Cricket Field) located on South St in Buckland from 12 noon until 3 pm. All car enthusiasts are asked to bring their cars and park in the outfield for a car show in Mike's honor.

In lieu of donations it is suggested by Mikes family to gather with your loved ones, family and friends and be truly grateful for each other and all God has blessed you with.
