Michael A. Derose, 85, of Lincoln Street, died at home with his loving family by his side on September 16, 2022.
Michael was born in Springfield, MA on December 19, 1936 to Michael A. and Angela (Nowicki) Derose, he resided in Springfield for most of his life. He was a graduate of Technical High School and received his Masters degree from Western New England College.
Michael's career was in Humane Resources. Among several positions, he was Vice-President of Human Resources at Texon, Inc. and later, for the Baystate Health System. He retired in 2007.
Michael was married to Barbara (Cirillo) on June 25, 1960 and treasured their 62 years together. They loved to travel, cruises and family vacations to Walt Disney World were his favorite.
In his earlier years, he was a talented musician on both the viola and organ, enjoyed hunting, scuba diving and was a scout leader for the Boy Scouts of America. Woodworking and wine making were just a few of his hobbies.
Michael was a devoted family man, nothing was more important than family. He cherished his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family-friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Michael's family include his wife Barbara, two sons; Michael A. Derose, III and is wife Karlyn of East Douglas, MA, Scott R. Derose of Greenfield, a daughter; Christine A. Daby and her husband Norm of Shelburne Falls, MA, his grandchildren; Michael A. Derose, IV, Courtney Casasanto, Laurel Derose, and William Hanson, Jr., a great grandson Vincent Casasanto and great granddaughter Lillith Derose, a brother Robert Derose of Chicopee, MA and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers Giovanni and Francis Derose.
Calling hours and memorial service will take place Saturday, Sept. 24, beginning at 11 am at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 87 Franklin St., Greenfield, with the memorial service at 12:30 pm
