Obituary

Maurice E. Hazel, 91, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022 at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.

Moe was born in Peabody, MA on April 24, 1930 the son of Leroy C. and Matilda (Brindamore) Hazel. A graduate of Peabody High School, he went on to serve in the US Army during the Korean war. The Hazel family was a Gold Star Family having lost their son Norton Hazel on the beaches of Normandy.

He was a refrigeration technician for the Coca-Cola company for 2 years and then moved on to the Pepsi Cola Company for the next 47 years.

He moved to Charlemont to live on his son’s farm a few years ago.

Survivors include his son Ed Hazel of Charlemont, two daughters Susan Greenwood of Camden, NJ and Teena Hazel of Waynesboro, VA and multiple nieces and nephews in the Peabody and Billerica area.

Moe was predeceased by his wife Carolyn P (Cook), his parents, and his seven siblings; Norton, Arthur, Ralph, Blanche Furey, Alma Cooke, Leona Nagy and Jean Rossignol.

A Celebration of Life service will take place at a later date.
