Marjorie (Phillips) Cahill, 98, passed away at home on December 14, 2023.
Marjorie was born in Greenfield on September 2, 1925 to Harold W. Phillips and Olive (Hull) Phillips. She was a life long resident of Greenfield and graduated from Greenfield High school in 1943. Marjorie married her husband John E. Cahill on October 11, 1952 and was predeceased by him in 1976. Marjorie loved her family and was so proud of her girls, six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Marjorie enjoyed traveling abroad and visited many countries. She took several cruises and traveled throughout the United States. She loved the beach, particularly vacationing at Cape Cod.
Marjorie was an avid reader and skilled knitter. She made many beautiful afghans, sweaters, and mittens for her family.
Marjorie was a member of the Greenfield Senior Center where she participated in line and tap dancing. She danced with the Golden Dancers performing at many nursing homes and senior centers in Western Mass. She also performed with Karen's senior dance troupe.
Marjorie was a lifelong member of the Greenfield YMCA where she took aerobics classes until she was 90. At the time of her death she was one of the oldest members of the Second Congregational Church in Greenfield.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter Nancy Lapean (Kevin) of Montague. Grandson Jacob and granddaughter Emily (Dana). Daughter Deborah (Peter) of Dover NH. Grandsons Joshua, Nicholas (Brittany) and Christopher (Kathleen). Daughter Linda (Hal) of Longmeadow MA and granddaughter Sarah. She is also survived by her 10 great grandchildren Elsie, Caleb, Luke, Rosalie, Olivia, Lexington, Joelle, Penelope, Finnegan and John.
The family would like to thank her hospice nurse Ann as well as everyone from Hospice of Franklin County, Shawna Clarke from LifePath, and the many caregivers she's had over the years, especially Elizabeth Davis and Bobby Joe Sanborn for the loving care they provided.
Services for family and friends with be Tuesday, Dec. 19 with visiting from 10:30 am to 11 am followed by a memorial at 11. All services will be at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 87 Franklin St., Greenfield. Burial will be private.
