Margaret M. (Margo) (Mulvehill) Culley

Margaret M. (Margo) Culley, 81, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

Margo was born in Brooklyn, NY to Margaret Sefton and Urban Mulvehill, Sr. who have both predeceased her. She is survived by her loving partner Kathy Swaim, her brothers Urban, Jr. and Michael (Catherine) Mulvehill, several nieces and a nephew whom she loved dearly, and her former husband Frank Culley.

Margo was a graduate of Manhattanville College, Rutgers University and received a Phd in English from the University of Michigan. She taught American Ethic and Women’s Literature at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst for over 30 years. She was a published author of a number of academic works in her fields of expertise. Throughout her life, Margo was very involved with many civic activities, starting with registering voters in the deep South during two summers in college, and she attended the 1963 March on Washington. She spent much of her adult life in Wendell where she served on the Wendell Select Board.

Margo will be remembered for her generosity and support to her family, friends, students and causes.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.
