Laura B. (Byrom) Arruda, 68, peacefully passed at home on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
Laura was born in Northampton on March 5, 1955 the daughter of Henry and Rita (Morin) Byrom.
Laura was known as a gentle, kind soul. She fostered an affinity for those around her, spreading love to all she met. Many words come to mind when describing the impact she had on others; devoted, patient, trusting, passionate, fearless, willful, strong and courageous to name a few. She loved nature in all its forms; sunsets, ocean waves, the wind, the rain, sunrise and the colors of the fall season. Laura lived her life with all her heart.
Laura was passionate about fabric manipulation and art of all expressions. She was drawn to impressionist artists.
Laura shared her compassion for others in her position as assessor’s clerk for the town of Montague. She was not just valued as knowledgeable in her work, but it was the personal connections she developed and nurtured that made her invaluable.
Her loving and devoted family includes her husband Edmund Arruda, their son Sebastian, her sisters; Marcia Byrom Hartwell, Mary Byrom, Claire Byrom and Ann Crouch, her nieces Emma Coburn and Nicole Crouch, three grand nephews, Ezra, Noah and Peter, one grand niece, Eden Lily, many cousins and countless friends.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 5/24, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 34 Monroe Ave., Shelburne Falls. Committal prayers will follow in Plain Cemetery, Ashfield.
