Joshua I. (Josh) Eastman

Joshua I. “Josh” Eastman, 36, died Saturday March 20, 2021 in Colrain.

Josh was born in Greenfield, MA on July 23, 1984, the son of Benjamin Eastman, Sr. and Karen (Lively) (Eastman) Hopkins. From an early age his parents knew Josh was going to be a handful and that remained true through his final day.

Josh wanted to be around anything with a motor. Whether it was four-wheeling in a Jeep, snowmobiling or off-road in any way, Josh was smiling. The muddier the better and speed was even better. Imagine a daredevil with no fear and that was Josh.

When you met him for the first time, you remembered. He was always the life of the party and the one who kept everyone laughing. He was also a charmer. No matter how deep in trouble Josh was, he somehow was able to squeak out of it with just the right words.

While he appeared to be carefree and fearless, Josh was also very helpful to friends in their time of need. No matter what was needed, if he had it, it was yours, and if he didn’t have it he would help you find it. Josh will be missed by his many friends.

Josh will be forever loved by his family; father Ben Eastman of Greenfield, mother Karen Hopkins and her husband Skip of Colrain, a son Joshua Eastman, Jr., daughters Josalyn and Jillyin Eastman and his long time partner Jessica Lumbis all of Greenfield, a brother Benjamin Eastman Jr. and his partner Heidi Irwin of Colrain, sister Amy Crafts and her husband Gilbert of Greenfield, nieces and nephews Travis and Emily Eastman and Jordan and Luke Anderson, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visiting hours will be Friday, March 26 from 5 to 7 pm at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 40 Church St., Shelburne Falls. Masks and social distancing will be required at all times.

A memorial service will take place Saturday, March 27 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Committal service will follow in West Brach Cemetery, Colrain.
