Janet (Snow) Eaton, 86, of Shelburne Falls, died September 24, 2021 at home.
Janet was born in Stonington, Maine on February 4, 1935 to Flossie and Bertrand Snow. She worked at Kendall Mills from the time she moved to MA, retiring in 1996. At that point, she helped Kendall move their operations to South Carolina. She loved sewing almost daily with her friends Barbara Kasper and Anna Humbert. If you couldn’t find her, you just needed to look in her sewing room or at A Notion to Quilt working on quilting projects. When she was well, she would love to sit for hours in the village catching up with her friends. For many years she was a member of Trinity Church in Shelburne Falls. She was active in the choir, Trinity Women and the bell choir. She also served as the treasurer of the church for many years.
On December 4, 1954 she married Wendell Eaton and shortly after, they moved to Colrain and then found their forever home on Maple Street in Shelburne Falls, right across the street from her sister and brother in law, Georges and June Wetterwald. Wendell predeceased her on December 22, 2009, just after they celebrated 55 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her parents and 12 brothers and sisters. Her remaining brother, Kenneth Snow lives in Greenfield.
Janet is survived by her children Mark and Leisha Eaton, with whom she lived and Laura and Mike Earl of Northfield. Her grandchildren Shannon and Todd Hager, LeighAnn and Justin Bardwell, Jason and Cyndi Eaton, Alex and Adam Martin, Matt and Trisha Earl, and Jake and Brittany Earl. As well as great grandchildren Julia, Rylee, Avery and Everett Hager; Natalie, Bennett, Dean and Carter Bardwell; Jackson and Calleigh Eaton; Addison, Ainsley, Ava, Aidan and Amelia Martin; Tristan, Brysen and Braylen Earl. Poppa was the lover of babies, but Gram took over when they got older. She especially looked forward to their visits once she was housebound.
We want to thank Lori and Sharon at Overlook Hospice for a week of unconditional love shown to Mom/Gram, as well as our own nurses, Shannon and Trisha. All of them gave her such love and care making sure her transition to Heaven was peaceful.
A celebration of life will take place on October 3 at 2 pm at Smith Kelleher Funeral Home in Shelburne Falls. There will be an informal visiting time from 1-2 pm. Her ashes will be spread at the family cemetery on Little Deer Isle, Maine at a later time.
