Colrain- Jacqueline R. “Jackie” (Pratt) Herzig, 60, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2023 with her loving family by her side. Jackie had fought a courageous battle for a long period of time - but she decided it was her time and accepted it with grace.
Jackie was born in Greenfield on October 4, 1962 the daughter of Leroy and Doris (Emerson) Pratt. To say Jackie was “one of a kind” is a tremendous understatement. She lived life at full speed and wanted to experience all that was around her. She loved the outdoors, loved to go fishing, she was an accomplished archer and won 2nd Place in a state finals tournament, enjoyed swimming, going for rides on her husband’s motorcycle, she loved to socialize and would often be the center of attention no matter what the occasion. She was a people person who only met a stranger once.
She was a talented quilter and would spend many hours putting together some beautiful quilts for family and friends. Jackie admired all of the arts in all of its forms. She was well known for her face painting and body art. There was a time when she the face painter aboard a cruise ship, painting the faces of kids and adults. Locally Jackie would be seen at fairs and private parties, making people smile with her art. As her illness began to limit her traveling, she was unable to continue her face painting and body art for the public.
If you had the pleasure of meeting Jackie, will not forget meeting her. She was an incredible person who many admired.
Jackie will be deeply missed by her family and friends; her husband Steve Herzig whom she married on Sept. 13, 2008, her son Steven Patnode of Greenfield, son Anthony Patnode and his wife Sarah of Nashua, NH, her grandchildren Caleb, Elly and Isabella Patnode, her sister Charlotte Maxfield and her husband Doug of Hardwick, MA, her aunt Doris Cutting of Athol as well as numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and countless friends.
She was predeceased by her brother David Pratt and sisters Cheryl Stetson and Linda Acheson.
Jackie’s family wishes to thank the nursing staff and doctors at Cooley-Dickinson Hospital for their loving care and compassion they extended to Jackie other the past few years. You have become part of the family and your love will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Jackie’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 26 at 11:00 am at the Colrain Community Church. A reception will follow the service in the church and friends are invited to bring a dish if the would like to. All are welcome.
