Heather Hoyt Obituary

Heather (Albee) Hoyt, (78) of Charlemont passed away on October 4, 2024.

The daughter of John and Isabella (McHaffie) Albee she was born and raised in Charlemont. Heather  graduated with honors from Charlemont High School and later with honors from Greenfield Community College with an Associate in Science degree in Criminal Justice. 

She was an original founder of the Mohawk Valley Medical Center, established to bring medical care to the area during a time of dire need for medical services in the hill town region. She later served on the Finance Committee for the town of Charlemont.

After high school she was hired by the then Franklin County Public Hospital as a billing clerk in a new federal program identified as Medicare.  She later became the Financial Secretary of the Mohawk Valley Medical Center and as the Center became privatized moved on to the field of education.  She joined the staff of Greenfield Community College in 1986 and continued there until her retirement from the position of Registrar in 2011.  During her time as Registrar of the College she had a deep respect for the integrity of GCC’s academic programs and for the faculty charged with guiding their students in their academic and, when called upon, personnel endeavors. 

Heather leaves her beloved children,  Marla (Jim) of Charlemont  and Brad (Liz) of Shelburne; her sister, Sandi Lancour of Thonotosassa, FL, her brother John Albee of Charlemont and her cherished friend and father of her children, Jack Hoyt of Buckland.  Survived as well by her extended family, Judy Hoyt of Buckland and Jerry Hoyt of Ashfield; two grandchildren, Gage and Cassie, and great grandchildren, Scarlette , Jackson and Cole.  Many nieces and nephews including locally Valerie Smith (Curtis), Debra Ryan (Charley), Kyle Skrocki (Jennifer), Jaycee Albee, Mackenzie Ryan, Elisabeth Johnson (Tom), Isabella, Cooper, Amelia and Logan.

Heather is predeceased by her parents John and Isabella Albee, beloved sister Janet and brother-in-law Verne Bliss, niece Becky Casanova, nephews Patrick and Thomas (TJ) Skrocki, Mark Kwiecien and brother-in-law Eddie Lancour.

Heather will be interned at Arm’s Cemetery in a private graveside ceremony on October 19, 2024. There will be a Celebration of Life for family and friends to be announced at a future date.
