Geraldine May (Durant) Poirier, 85, died peacefully in her sleep on May 6, 2023 at Charlene Manor Extended Care.
Geraldine was born in Greenfield on September 26, 1937 the daughter of William and Hazel (Collins) Durant.
On December 5, 1958 she was married to Victor J. Poirier, Jr. and they were married for 37 years prior to his passing.
Geraldine was employed for various businesses in the area including Dunkin Donuts, Sears, Farren Care Center, Verizon, and GBI Marketing, making some wonderful life time friends at each location. She also volunteered at the Franklin Medical Center and at the front desk at the Greenfield Senior Center.
She enjoyed watching the New England sports teams, line dancing, bowling, and traveling on bus trip adventures with family and friends.
Geraldine’s favorite pastime was spending time with her family and watching her children and grandchildren compete in sports and other activities.
Geraldine is survived by her family; daughter Michele (Sam) Browning of Northfield, son Jeffery (Teri) Poirier of Greenfield, son James (Nicole) Poirier of Orange, her brother William Durant of Florida, grandchildren; Jillian, Amanda, Timothy, Alicia, Breanna, Benjamin and Hannah, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Visiting hour will take place Friday, May 12, from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 87 Franklin St., Greenfield. The funeral service will begin at 1:00.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
