Francis H. Gochinski

Greenfield - Francis H. Gochinski, 95, of Greenfield, passed on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

Francis (“Babe”) was born in Greenfield, MA on July 8, 1929 the son of Joseph and Alice (Densky) Gochinski. After graduating from Greenfield High School in 1948 Francis served in the Massachusetts National Guard.  He was a lifetime resident of Greenfield.

Francis married Theresa J. (Dubriske) Gochinski on August 18, 1951. Francis and Theresa

celebrated 69 years of marriage before Theresa’s passing in June 2020.  They raised seven children together.

As a young man Francis worked with his father (Joseph H. Gochinski) in his father’s business.  Francis purchased a local print shop in 1968. He owned his print shop “Ideas Plus Ink Inc.” for many years and finished his career at the University of Massachusetts in the Printing Department, retiring in 1996.  

After retirement Francis enjoyed collecting baseball cards and memorabilia. He was an avid collector and owned a local baseball card shop - Babe’s Baseball Cards. 

Francis loved spending time with all of his children and grandchildren. He was especially close to his youngest son, Joseph A. Gochinski.  Joe was his primary care giver and devoted son. Francis (Dad) will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren.

Francis was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of the Greenfield Lodge of Elks.

Francis was predeceased by his wife Theresa Gochinski in 2020 and his son Francis H. Jr “Butch” in 1980.  Francis is survived by his children. Donna Prescott of South Deerfield, Diane Gochinski of Hatfield, Tim Gochinski, his wife Joann of South Deerfield, Denise Rueb, her husband Richard of Las Vegas, Stephen Gochinski of Greenfield, and Joseph Gochinski of Greenfield.  

Survivors also include his grandchildren including Aimee Bysiewski, Miranda Kudukey, Tim Gochinski, Jillian Gochinski and Alex Gochinski.  Also, his great grandchildren Aiyra and Eden Kudukey, Iris and Gemma Gochinski, and Jeorgia Bysiewski.

Calling hours are from 6pm – 8pm Friday, September 13th at Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 87 Franklin St., Greenfield.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 14th at Blessed Sacrament Church at 11am.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
