Eleanor Rose Jensen Stanton, 21, of Taunton, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly on February 12th, 2024. Jensen was born on May 8th, 2002 to Scot and Sheryl Stanton in Hartford, Connecticut. After Jensen graduated from Somers High School, they continued to work in the food service industry, earning their safe serve certificate, and working in several area restaurants.
Jensen possessed an amazing spirit, a brilliant mind, quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and a wide-open heart. Jensen loved the arts, being creative in many ways, including drawing, painting, music, theater, hair dressing, make-up, and writing. Jensen’s spirit was in service to others, and even through their own journey with substance abuse and mental health, they were a champion for those who shared the same struggles. Jensen was an advocate of inclusion and protection of civil rights for the for LBGTQIA community, participating in rallies and advocacy groups throughout their life. Fiercely independent, Jensen was working hard to overcome their addictions and had recently moved into a new apartment. Eager for what lied ahead, Jensen’s death feels all the more tragic and sad.
Jensen was predeceased by their father, Scot Stanton, and their brother, Benjamin Stanton. They are survived by their mother, Sheryl Stanton and her partner, Robert Demers, siblings Amanda Stanton and her fiancée, Michael Carbonetta, Nathaniel and Erin Stanton, Theodore Stanton and his partner Moriah Pardo, and Adeline Stanton. In addition to their siblings, Jensen is survived by their grandmother, Dorothy Washburn and her partner, David Cocoran. Jensen is also survived by many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins, whose love Jensen felt deeply and took great comfort from.
Family and friends may gather on Friday, February 16th, 2024, at Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 40 Church St., Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts at 5:00 p.m. for calling hours, followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Jensen’s name can be made to the Recover Project of Greenfield, Ma. at recoverproject.org.
