Edward C. “Ed” Coates, 63, of West Oxbow Rd., died at home on Thursday, November 17, 2022.
Ed was born in Montague, MA on January 17, 1959, one of ten children of Alan and Sylvia (Baxter) Coates.
Ed was a self-employed logger working in the woods of western Mass.
He enjoyed snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, and fishing, among other things but his favorite pastime was walking in the woods with his dogs, Diesel and Turbo. They were constant companions at home or in the woods.
Ed is survived by his family; sons Ed Coates of Turners Falls and Douglas Coates of Charlemont, 2 grandchildren; Ivy and Jaxstyn Coates, 3 brothers; Gerald, Charles and Robert Coates, all of Charlemont, 5 sisters; Sharon Shippee of Buckland, Linda Twete of Alaska, Darlene Barbeau of Charlemont, Marlene Coates of Florida, MA, Cheryl Yates of Turners Falls and multiple nieces and nephews.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, his wife Christine Coates on Oct. 22, 2015, and a brother Richard Coates.
A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held at a time and location to be announced.
