Douglas B Galvin, 65, of Greenfield, passed away on August 13, 2023. He lived in South Deerfield for the last twenty-five years, moving back to Greenfield recently under the care of his sister Phyllis after a period of declining health. He was born December 13, 1957 in Greenfield, son of Donald and Velma (Kisler) Galvin. He was a member of the GHS Class of 1976.
Doug loved sports and played softball in his younger years. He was an avid Red Sox and Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed traveling and trips to the casino. His favorite trip was when his sister surprised him with a trip to Graceland for his 60th Birthday. He was a huge Elvis fan and collected memorabilia for several years.
He worked at Oxford Pickles until it closed and at Yankee Candle for the last fifteen years. He was a member of the Polish Club in South Deerfield and at the Moose Club in Greenfield where he enjoyed trivia nights, listening to the bands and dancing.
He was predeceased by both parents and a brother Bill and sister Renee. He leaves his sister Phyllis DeSanty and brother Dennis Phillips both of Greenfield and twin siblings Donna and Donald Galvin of Minnetonka, MN along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was especially close with his niece Angela Mass, her husband Isaac and children Che, Quinn and Auburn.
There will be no calling hours and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
