David S. Rice, Jr.

David S. Rice, Jr., 81, of Legate Hill Rd., passed away October 5, 2025.

He was born in Hawley on June 19, 1944 the son of David and Lida (Maynard) Rice.

He served in the US Army during the Vietnam war and was Honorably discharged August 1, 1968.

He was employed as a truck driver throughout of his life and most of that time was spent with the railroad.

Survivors include his daughter Sheila Ricko of Millers Falls, son Christopher of Charlemont, step-son George Thayer of Greenfield, step-son Stephen Thayer of Charlemont, grandchildren Amanda Beauchese, David Thayer, Scott (Jackie) Thayer, Logan Ricko and Morgan Ricko, brother George Rice of West Hawley, sister Paula Rice of Charlemont and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be Sunday, October 19 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 40 Church St., Shelburne Falls
