Christopher S. Maniatty

Christopher S. Maniatty, 92, a lifelong Greenfield resident passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. He was born June 4,1930, the son of the late Steven P.  and Susan (Samaras) Maniatty. 

Christopher attended Deerfield Academy followed by Columbia College.  He was a trust officer in the banking industry managing the investments and estates of high net worth individuals and families  for over fifty years.  He sat on many boards, including what is now Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield. He supported many different community needs including the YMCA, The Bement school, and the Franklin Land Trust. He was passionate about tennis, skiing, traveling and the arts. Christopher cherished his family and many close friends near and far. Anyone lucky enough to spend anytime with Christopher would describe him as a grand entertainer and raconteur, traits he carried through his very last days. 

Christopher is survived by his brother Herm of Greenfield, his sister-in-law Elizabeth Maniatty of Simsbury, CT, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Anne and brothers Peter, Connie, George, Phil, John, Ash, Arthur, Leo, Michael, and Perry, his nephew Steven Maniatty of Greenfield and sisters-in-law Connie, Claire, and Betty.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 8 Church Street, Greenfield, Massachusetts at 10 am, January 7th.  Visitation will precede the service from 9:30 to 10:00 at St. James Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association, P.O. Box 428, Deerfield, MA 01342.
