Catherine J. Hyer

Catherine J. Hyer, 42, formerly of Log Plain Rd., passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the Lahey Clinic Hospital in Burlington, MA

Cathy was born in Bay Shore, NY on October 22, 1981 the daughter of Thomas and Trice (Domenici) Hyer. Her family moved to Charlemont when she was five. She attended local schools and graduated from Mohawk Trail Regional High School.

She attended dance class at the former Pizzaz studio for many years and performed multiple times gracefully and passionately. She was also an accomplished pianist and soloist. Whether she was playing the piano or singing, her talent was evident for all to hear.

Most recently Cathy was a medical assistant at the Community Health Center and Cooley-Dickinson Hospital previously. 

She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Shelburne Falls and a member of the choir.

Cathy put her heart into everything that she did and that was especially true when it came to being a Mom. Cathy adored her sons and gave them her heart and soul each and every day. She loved them unconditionally.

Cathy’s loving family she leaves behind include her sons Ronin and Dante Ponce, her mother Trice Hyer, her father Thomas Hyer, her brother Thomas Hyer, sisters Jennifer Heim and Ariana Hyer, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Visiting hours will be Tues, July 30 from 5 to 7 pm at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 40 Church St., Shelburne Falls.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wed., July 31 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church in Shelburne Falls.

A Celebration of Katie’s Life will be held at a date, time and location to be announced.
