Anna Mae (“Nancy”, née Vincent) Smith, 97, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2022, of natural causes. Nancy was a lifelong resident of various Franklin County towns. She was one of ten children born to the late Alexander and Marie-Anne Vincent, in Conway, MA on May 7, 1925. In 1945, she married Vincent B. Smith, who predeceased her in 2002, quickly assuming motherhood of his two young sons, Donald and Dennis. The couple soon added two more sons, David and Douglas.
Nancy loved family and jumped at hosting potlucks at her home over the years. She worked as a housekeeper in several area motels and nursing homes. She delighted in learning new things, and had many friends in golf, bowling, and Bingo.
Along with her husband Vincent, Nancy was predeceased by sons Douglas (1998) and Donald (2020), granddaughter Karen Alsaleh (2010), step-grandson Roland Kingsley (2016), and a special friend, F. Russell Locke (2016). She is survived by sons Dennis (Brenda) Smith of Interlachen, FL, and David (Leigh) Smith of St. Albans, VT, along with grandchildren Dawn Marie (Frank) Feind, Michael (Linda) Smith, step-granddaughter Belinda (Rick) Schatz, Rick (Rebecca) Smith, Steve (Jessica) Smith, Denise (Duane) Graves, Melany (Mary) Wheeler, David (Charlotte Edwards) Smith, Patience Smith, Jennifer Smith, and Kellie Smith, and many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren, of whom she was very proud. She leaves behind a special friend, Aminta Lara-Peters.
The Smith family would like to thank the staff of Charlene Manor Extended Care for their compassionate care to Nancy over several years.
There will be no service at this time; a graveside memorial at Arms Cemetery in Shelburne Falls will take place at the convenience of the family. Remembrances to the family may be posted to the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home. Donations in Nancy’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association(alz.org), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org), or your favorite charity.
