Alice H. Lively, 97, passed away peacefully at Regal Care Center, Greenfield, MA Jan 25, 2023.
She was born in Colrain on January 12, 1926, the son of Emory and Maude (Gilderdale) Hebard. Alice attended local schools in Colrain and was a graduate of Arms Academy Class of 1943.
She taught at Spurr school, Colrain, for the year 1944 and then taught at West Halifax school for the year 1945. On Nov. 27, 1946, she married Edward Lively, who predeceased her in 2008.
After raising her family, she worked at Keystone Market in the deli and at Mohawk Manor as a cook and an aide. She also was Chaplin of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Colrain.
Her passion was reading, and she loved being with her family.
She leaves her children James (Deb)Lively of Rowe, Steve Lively of Greenfield, Elaine (Lee)Stanley of Colrain, and Tom (Cindy)Lively of Colrain, 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. She leaves a sister, Janet Blankenship of Denver, CO.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Laura Doull in 2015, her great granddaughter, Autumn Walsh in 2018, and her son Russ Lively in 2019.
Alice’s family would like to thank Regal Care and their staff for the compassionate care given their mother. A private graveside service will take place in the spring.
