Alan Ross Rulewich,78, passed away on October 22, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. His family and dedicated caregivers were by his side. Alan was a devoted husband, father and friend. He will be greatly missed by those he enjoyed his life with.
Alan’s professional life followed a diverse and adventurous path; as a true entrepreneur, he followed his passions wherever they led him. He ran his own music equipment store in Hicksville, NY., owned a video rental store in New Haven, CT., created Rice N’ Easy, a rice pudding shop in Northampton, MA., and worked in numerous other fields including water testing, real estate, transportation, and music. However, he was most proud of being the creator and founder of Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory and Gardens in South Deerfield, MA.
As a young teenager, music became Alan’s life blood. This love carried him through life, and he built extensive collections of LPs and CDs of his favorite musicians. No matter the situation, there was always space for music – a passion that he engaged in throughout his life and one that he passed on to his children.
Alan leaves behind his wife Cheryl Rezendes Rulewich, his three sons Scott, August (wife Vivian) and Brook (partner Alexandrine Gaspar) Rulewich, his brother Roger Rulewich (wife Sandra), as well as his nieces Laura Wirth and Diana Whitman and his nephew Christopher.
A gathering of family and friends to honor Alan’s life will be held October 29 from 12:00-3:00PM at the family residence, 375 West Mountain Rd, Bernardston. All are welcome. In light of the recent COVID outbreak, refreshments will not be served. We kindly request that loved ones please wear a mask.
