Elizabeth "Betty" B. (Beman) Jenkins

Elizabeth B. "Betty" Jenkins, 90, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016.

Betty was born in Hartford, CT on May 1, 1926 the daughter of George and Louise (Newton) Beman. She attended local schools and was a graduated of the University of Connecticut.

For many years Betty was the postal clerk at the Post Office is Plainfield. She also served the town of Plainfield as a school board member of the Mohawk Trail Regional High School. In later years, Betty could be found driving a school bus for the Smith Vocational School.

She was a member of the former Sovereign Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son Keith Jenkins and his significant other Jeannine Hughes of Greenfield, two daughters; Linda Crocker of Marion, NY and Laurie Markoski and her husband John of Greenfield, eight grandchildren; Meredith Jackson, Joshua Crocker, Lauren Remillard, Christopher and Christina Jenkins, Scott, Molly and Jack Markoski, five great grandchildren; Judah, Kelsey, Neely, Kennedy and Henry as well as nieces and nephews.

Betty was predeceased by her husband Frederick G. Jenkins in 2000, brother Robert Beman, sister Eleanor Martinelli and son-in-law Brian Crocker.

A funeral service will take place Tuesday, June 7, at 11:00 am at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 40 Church St., Shelburne Falls. Burial services will follow in Hill Top Cemetery in Plainfield.

There will be a visiting hour Tuesday from 10 am until the service begins.
