I had Ms. Kells in 1975 and she was gracious, smart, attractive and very patient. (I was an awful student in science and she treated me with respect and kindness, nonetheless.) A class act. She gave NMH School so much. Rest in Peace, Ms. Kells.

Alice Kells was one of my favorite teachers at NMH. In tenth grade biology in 1973 she introduced me to all things scientific, DNA beads, fetal pigs, the plants in the greenhouse. At the time, I didn't know what I was doing, but Miss Kells was nurturing, kind, supportive and soft-spoken, and I went on to get a Masters in Botany and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry. I am so sorry to hear that she passed away. My condolences to the family.

Although I never had her as a teacher, I remember her being 'on campus' when I was a student at Northfield Mount Hermon School and that she was liked. This is also in evidence as many classmates have replied to this news on NMH class facebook pages, where the news was shared. I also recall my mother, the late Glenys Harris, speaking of her, as they both did volunteer work at Franklin County Medical Center together. Condolences to your family.

MISS KELLS was my biology teacher in 1972, 10th grade. So inspiring was she that i went on to get a zoology degree at university of florida. i loved her class, i loved her outside pond field trips. she was made campus life on northfield campus a happier place. i was lucky as a alumni to see her at the sacred concert and other events. she never stopped loving the NMH school GOD BLESS HER.

So sad to hear of the passing of Alice. I was the exchange teacher from the UK who swapped with Alice. We kept in touch and visited each other a number of times since then. She made a great impression on Portsmouth Grammar School in England and gave me a love of New England. RIP Alice
