Howard E. Booker, Jr.

Howard E. Booker, Jr. passed away on June 26, 2024.

Howard was born in Greenfield, MA on July 26, 1945, son of the late Howard and Margaret (Wheeler) Booker. He attended Arms Academy and Greenfield Community College.

He served three years in the US Army stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.

Howard retired in 2006 from the Western Massachusetts Electric Company as a Team Leader – Systems Projects in the Line Department, having worked for them for thirty-six years.

He was a lifetime member of both the New England Ox Teamsters Association and the Massachusetts Ox Teamsters Association. Howard and his wife Marcia pulled oxen at the fairs for more than forty years.

Howard leaves his wife of 56 years Marcia (Streeter) Booker, his daughter Amy Gauger and her husband Todd of Easthampton, his grandchildren Brooke Gauger and Benjamin Gauger, his sister Carol Booker of Hadley, brother-in-law Howard Streeter (Edie) of Shelburne Falls, two nieces, Helen Fain (David) of Shelburne Falls and Heidi Streeter of Greenfield, nephew Howard Streeter, Jr. (Tammy) of Ashfield, a grand niece and nephew, three great grandnieces and several cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Gail Anderson.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Richard Warner, the staff at Baystate Franklin and Baystate Springfield, Regal Care in Greenfield and our neighbors the Deane family for their care and support.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 10 at 11:00 am in Arms Cemetery in Shelburne Falls. Anyone wishing to share a story or remembrance is welcome to do so. Casual attire is encouraged. A reception will follow at the Shelburne Falls Pub and Brew at the Sweetheart.
