David Truesdell Obituary

Shelburne Falls, MA - David H. Truesdell, 77, of Mechanic St., passed away unexpectedly on May 22, 2025.

He was born in Greenfield, MA on June 4, 1947 the son of Howard and Edith (Upham) Truesdell. He grew up in Rowe and attended local schools and was a graduate of Greenfield Community College.

He was employed by the Vermont Yankee Atomic Plant for many years as a chemistry technician.

Away from his job he enjoyed being outdoors. He loved to take his family on vacations, trips and camping. He was a talented artist and a great handyman who could fix just about anything. He cherished his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who would do anything for his family.

He was involved with local theater productions and was a member of the "Music Man" cast when they performed locally. Around his home he could often be heard singing or whistling.

He was kind, friendly, dependable and will be missed.

Survivors include a son Peter (Karen Peters) Truesdell, grandchildren Noah Truesdell, Ryan and Brie Lewis, Lilly Truesdell, Serias (Hannah) and Ray (Eleanor) Handschuh.

He was sadly predeceased by a number of his family members; wife Janet (Miller) in 2024, son Matthew in January 2025, daughter Rebecca Handschuh in 2013, son-in-law Lucas Handschuh in 2015, daughter-in-law Nancy Truesdell and sister Patricia Taylor.

Visiting hours for family and friends will be Saturday, May 31 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 40 Church St., Shelburne Falls.
