Christine A. (Dow) Tower, 85, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.
She was born in North Adams, MA on October 12, 1938 one of the four daughters of Lawrence and Aleatheabelle (Brundage) Dow.
She is survived by two sons, Rick Tower and his wife Carrie of Marlboro, VT, Jonathan Tower of Rowe, daughter Nancy Hickox and her husband Aaron of Jaffrey, NH, her two grandchildren Grace and Jackson Tower, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Tower and her sisters Dorothy Counter, Marjorie Quinby and Lucille Estes.
Christine was a long time member of the Rowe Community Church and had served as Deacon for several years. She truly loved the Lord.
She served the Rowe community in many ways, as town Constable, poll worker, bus driver, mail route driver, a Girl Scout leader, judge at the Heath Fair and as a supporter and volunteer for the “brown bag” program assisting with providing food and supplies for area residents. She helped get the Rowe Goal Post from the printer to the mail box and at one time she was a driver for the Meals on Wheels program.
She loved to bake. Her pies, tarts and cinnamon rolls were among her well-known and well-enjoyed treats by her family and many friends. As a reflection of her kindness and thoughtfulness Christine and her husband Richard each received awards from the American Red Cross for their countless blood donations over the years.
She enjoyed having dogs in her home, preferably “Pugs”. She catered to them and kept them happy and they kept her happy. Her pug Emma was her constant companion over the last 13 years. She also enjoyed the birds at her feeder and the flowers in her garden.
A visiting hour will be held Sunday, August 4 from 12 pm to 1 pm at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 40 Church St, Shelburne Falls. A memorial service will begin at 1 pm. Burial will immediately follow in East Cemetery in Rowe.
