Thomas D Jenkins of Heath, Mass. Passed away peacefully at home with his wife and son by his side along with loving family member’s and close friends. Recently diagnosed with cancer we are at peace that he didn’t have to suffer long and was able to come home to the house he built.

Thomas was born in Barnstable Mass on July 13th 1948 to Mary M. Derwin and Fred S. Jenkins. He grew up in West Barnstable and attended Barnstable Schools. Thomas raised three children and worked many jobs before entering his career with Asplundh Tree Company. He enjoyed playing adult softball, spending time at Sandy Neck beach and was a member and president of the West Barnstable Deer Club.

In 1992 he met his current wife Robin and they married in the back yard of their Cape Cod home in 1995, the following year they were blessed with the birth of their son Tucker. In 2001 they moved to Heath to build their house where they currently reside. Thomas enjoyed landscaping and worked meticulously on improvements in and around the house especially taking pride in his outside garden’s and continuing his passion for tree work by cutting down trees around the property with the help of his favorite tractor. Thomas self-taught himself woodworking and built many pieces for their home and gifts for others.

A proud and dedicated father who just loved watching his son play baseball from little league days all the way through high school. Thomas and his son would always talk about the game, he would never criticize however always quietly added advice to pull the best out of Tucker. After high school Thomas thoroughly enjoyed watching his son continue their passion by coaching Baseball Teams of all ages. Thomas was Tucker’s number one fan. He was die hard New York Yankees fan a love that both him and his son shared.

A loving and devoted husband who always put his wife first, never ceasing to surprise her with his unconditional love. Sharing a deep bond to each other and supporting one another in all they did. He was her best friend, constantly working together on projects in their home and on their property. A quiet manner, but a deep commitment to those closest to him, always putting them before himself. Thomas’s inner child and sense of humor was ever present, making family gatherings something everyone would constantly look forward to so they could see what he had in store.
