Steven John Maniatty passed away suddenly on November 15, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Steve was born in Greenfield on May 7, 1959 the son of Hermes S. and the late Cornelia (Avdoulos) Maniatty.
When Steve was not at the Greenfield YMCA, he was up early to be the first skier at Mount Snow, cheering on Sam's sports teams, or eating a "Little Joe #10" from Joe's Pizza. He was a lover of all things Bruce Springsteen, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and was a person you could always count on. He was a firm believer in the fact that any problem can be solved with a Swiss Army knife and that pleaded khaki shorts were appropriate to be worn year round.
In addition to his father, Steven is survived by his daughter Sara and her fiancé Ryan Kirby of Baltimore, Maryland, his son Sam Maniatty of Bernardston, MA, his sister Susan waters of Groton, MA, nephew Robert Watters, Jr. of Groton, MA, niece Alexandra Castellano and her husband Kirk of Hoboken, NJ, uncle Christopher Maniatty of Greenfield, MA, aunts Demetra Avdoulos of Glastonbury, CT, Betty Maniatty of Darien, CT, and Elizabeth Maniatty of Simsbury, CT, as well as several cousins and close friends.
A visiting hour will take place Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 am at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 87 Franklin St., Greenfield followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Private burial will be in Green River Cemetery in Greenfield.
