Edward Leo Boudreau, 80, of Heath, did peacefully on Wednesday, March 21, at Berkshire Medical Center in North Adams, MA
He was born March 1, 1938, in Ipswich, Essex, MA the son of Joseph Michel and Marie Eugenie (Saulnier) Boudreau formerly of Saulnierville, Digby, Nova Scotia Canada and Ipswich, Essex, MA.
A graduate of Ipswich High School, Ed married his beloved wife of 57 the former Margaret “Peggy” Higgins on February 11, 1961 in Peabody, MA.
A Career Bus Driver Ed worked for many years for Peter Pan, Bonanza, Greyhound, and Englander Coach lines, as well as for local Crab Apple Whitewater Inc.
A “jack of all trades and master of none” and willing to tackle anything, Ed enjoyed many years of drawing and making wooden children’s toys, many of which he gifted to friends and family. He also enjoyed working on his garden with his wife; canning his famed yellow and fried green tomato piccalilli.
A lifelong Red Sox and Patriots fan Ed hardly missed a game. Always quick of wit and humor he was a hard worker, enjoyed a good joke, and told it like he saw it!
Survivors besides his wife include his daughter Terese M. (Joe) Welch of Brandywine, MD, sons Edward A. (Toni) Boudreau of Eagle River, AK, Donald B. (Laurie) Boudreau of Clarksburg, MA and daughter Renee (Lindsey) Boudreau of Greenfield; five grandchildren Mehgan T. Degere, Raymond E. Degere, Michael M. Boudreau, Brian E. Boudreau and Holly J. Boudreau. He was predeceased by his sister Elsie (Boudreau) Sturtevant.
A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, March 27, at 12 noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shelburne Falls. A reception will follow at the Shelburne/Buckland Community Center
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:45 am at Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home in Shelburne Falls.
In lieu of flowers it is suggested donations may be made in Edward’s name to the Heath Volunteer Fire Department, Heath, MA 01346.
