Douglas J. Angeli, 63, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Wingate in West Springfield.
Doug was born in Quebec, Canada on January 17, 1955 the son of Leo S. and Lillian E. (Martin) Angeli.
He was employed in the restaurant business for many years.
Doug's favorite pastime was watching old television shows from the 60's and 70's such as Star Trek and Lost in Space. He traveled to many places to have his picture taken and autographs of the stars of that time. His photos and autographs include Adam West (Batman), Yvonne Craig (Batgirl) and Dawn Wells (Gilligan's Island) among many others. He was proud of his collection and meeting the actors.
At a young age he was active in the Boy Scouts and became an assistant Scout Leader. He was a Green Bay Packers fan, a New York Yankees fan, he was a talented square dancer and enjoyed playing trivia games, especially about old TV shows.
He was a communicant of St. Michael's Cathedral in Springfield and a member of the Third Order of St. Francis, St. Michael's Fraternity of the Secular Franciscans.
Survivors include his loving sister who he affectionately called "Kay", Karin Eckel of Bedford, NH, his niece and nephew whom he adored; Molly Eckel of Princeton, NJ and Andrew Eckel of Somerville, MA, a brother Bruce Angeli of West Virginia, and a brother-in-law Christopher Eckel of Bedford, NH.
Visitation will be Friday from 12 pm to 1:30 pm at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 87 Franklin St., Greenfield. A graveside service will follow at 2:00pm at Calvary Cemetery in Greenfield.
