Dorothy Conklin Obituary

     Dorothy (Maley) Conklin, 96, of Avonwood Rd., died Monday, June 25, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.

     Dorothy was born in Greenfield, MA on July 4, 1921 the daughter of Thomas J. and Ethel (Riel) Maley. She was a graduate of Holy Trinity School, class of 1935, Greenfield High School, class of 1939, Greenfield Commercial School and the American Institute of Banking in Hartford, CT.

     Dorothy’s accomplished career in banking began after her children were born and at the time of her retirement, she was a Branch Manager for the People’s Bank of Bridgeport, CT.

     In her time away from banking, Dorothy was a member of the Board of Friends of the Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford, a member of the Clemens Circle of the Mark Twain House, and a member of the Wadsworth Athenaeum and Art Museum in Hartford.

     She was a long time Communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Avon.

     In her retirement Dorothy found great joy in traveling with her family to such places as Russia, Europe and aboard cruise ships. She loved to visit her grandsons in Alabama and Nebraska, she played golf, was always up for a game of Bridge and enjoyed being around the water.

     Dorothy is survived by her daughter Paula Alexander and her husband Roy of Trinity, AL, two grandsons; Michael Thomas and his wife Beth of Somerville, AL, Jonathan Thomas and his wife Jaimee of Auburn, NE and her great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Louis E. Conklin, her son Thomas E. Conklin, her brother Edward W. Maley and sister Elizabeth L. Maley.

     Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford.

     A Liturgy of Christian Burial will celebrated Friday, June 29 at 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, Federal St., Greenfield, MA. Committal prayers will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Greenfield.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name may be made to the Mark Twain House & Museum, c/o The Development Dept., 351 Farmington Ave, Hartford, CT, 06105-4401
