Cynthia Caron Obituary

Colrain- Cynthia J. Caron, 71, of 104 Call Road, died peacefully on Friday 10-05-2018 at Heywood Hospital in Gardner after several months of declining health.

Cynthia, or Cini as she preferred, was born on June 8, 1947 in Greenfield.  Her mother and her future mother in-law were in the same hospital maternity room when Cini was born. Cini was the daughter of Virginia (Corbin) and Wendell Wilder.  She graduated from Pioneer Regional High School. She continued working after high school at the Four Leaf Restaurant in Bernardston where she would meet her future husband, Malcolm.  Cini later went on to work at Schaff Opticians.  She worked her way up from secretary, to optician to finally becoming co-owner of the business.

Cini was an active member of the Greenfield Rotary Club for many years and served as president at one time.

Cini was always on the go. She was not one to sit idle for long.  She enjoyed shopping, bingo, trips to the casino, travel and spending time with her family.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She put great effort into making the lives of her children and grandchildren happy ones.  Her favorite vacation places were the beach, especially those at Cape Cod.  For many years she enjoyed her yearly summer family vacation on Cape Cod.

Cini leaves behind her husband of 53 years, Malcolm and one daughter, Melissa Bednarski and her husband John.  She leaves three siblings; Judy Beckwith and her husband Byron, Douglas Wilder and his wife Judy and David WIlder and his partner Barbara.  She also leaves five grandchildren: Alyssa, Matthew, Jacob, Benjamin and Isaiah; and one great-granddaughter, Aidan.

Cini was predeceased by her beloved son Dennis in 2012.

Services will be on Friday 10-12-18 at 12:30pm at the Smith Kelleher Funeral home at 40 Church Street, Shelburne Falls.  Burial will follow in West Branch Cemetery in Colrain.  Calling hours will be held on Friday from 10:30am-12:30pm at the funeral home.  A celebration of Cini’s life will follow the funeral services, at a location to be determined.  All are welcome.
