Charles Miner Obituary

Charles D. “Chuck” Miner, 58, died at home on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. Chuck’s life was centered around his family and one of his last wishes was to be at home for his final days. He passed with his loving wife and five children at his side.

Chuck was the son of Daniel W. and Shirley A. (Swistek) Miner, born on March 11, 1959 in Greenfield, MA. He graduated from Mohawk Trail Regional High School as a member of the class of 1977. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Coast Guard and served as a Petty Officer for eight years in ports along the coast of Maine and in Boston.

Chuck married the love of his life, Wendy Duclos on January 16, 1981 recently celebrating over 37 years together. Chuck was a family man through and through. He cherished his kids and their accomplishments as they grew into adults. He enjoyed all types of sports and helped his kids both on and off the field. It was through his love of his kids and sports that led him into coaching basketball for over 20 years. From the recreation league, to A.A.U. and high school, Chuck was there. He was coach of the girl’s basketball team at Mohawk for 14 years during which they had successful years and a league championship.

Among the many things he loved to do with his family was traveling to Maine to go camping and visit the beaches. His love of the ocean led him to his eight years with the Coast Guard. He could also be found on the golf coarse perfecting the slice. Whatever Chuck was doing there was never a doubt that he was smiling, telling jokes and laughing. He had a great sense of humor and distinctive laugh.

He was employed by Hardigg Industries and then Pelican for a number of years until his illness prevented him from continuing.

Chuck leaves behind tremendous memories and the never ending love of his wife Wendy and their five children; son Christopher Miner and his wife Jessica of Barrington, RI, twins Caitlin Vautour and her husband Jason of Orange, MA and Larissa Harrison and her husband Noah of Greenfield, twins Ross Miner and his wife Brianna of Chicopee, MA and Johanna Smith-LaClaire and her husband Timothy of Greenfield, seven grandchildren; Otis, Everett, Grant, Parker, Ameliya, Rhylie and Olivia, his mother Shirley Miner of Englewood, FL, a brother Garth Miner and his wife Becky of Boonville, NY, a sister Cheryl Miner and her spouse Rochelle Gaumond of Englewood, FL, many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
