Allen W. Taylor, 83, of 42 Adams Rd., died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility.
     Allen was born in Springfield, MA on January 28, 1934 the son of Francis and Clara (Cole) Taylor.
     He was employed by Hamilton-Standard in Connecticut for a number of years. He began at an entry level position and over the years through his knowledge and dedication became an aerospace engineer. In his position he was able to design and implement many projects important to the aerospace field. He retired in 1991.
     Allen’s creativity and attention to detail was also evident in his woodworking, metal work and even ceramics. His talent was obvious when looking at his work.
     He enjoyed classic antique cars and dogs of any shape or size.
     Allen was a longtime member of the Melha Shriners in Springfield as well as the Masonic Lodge of Masons.
     Survivors include his wife Beverly Phillips, whom he married in 2013, son Bill Taylor of Otis, MA, daughter Lori Ann Moses of Portland, OR, step-sons; Todd Phillips of Florida, Ralph Phillips of Ohio, Billy Phillips of Pittsfield, MA, step-daughters; Mary Phillips of Greenfield and Michelle Phillips of Northampton, two additional children; Arlette and David, 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
     It was Allen’s wish that there be no services.
     Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home of Greenfield is assisting the family.
