Mr. Ronald C. "Ron" Denison, age 64, passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of his home on Friday, September 2, 2016.

Born in Greenfield, Massachusetts on August 23, 1952, Ronald was the son of Russell C. and Theresa (Boyer) Denison. As a youth Ronald or "Ronnie", as he was known to his family, was full of energy and excitement. Ronnie was an avid reader, an interest he would carry throughout his life, he excelled while attending Mohawk Regional School. His scholastic drive lead Ronnie to transfer to Northfield Mt. Hermon where he studied to prepare for the opportunity to attend University. As a young man, Ron worked hard learning the family trade and aspired to the position of Store Manager at the family-owned Denison Lumber Company of Colrain, MA.

His thirst for knowledge led him to Utica College of Syracuse University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978. And it was there that he met Eileen Darby. The couple married in 1975 and to that relationship came the blessing of two children.

As a father, Ron taught his children to be respectful, uphold family values and traditions, complete any endeavors that they begin, and never lose faith in their capabilities. Some of Ron's most cherished memories were of the times spent camping, hiking, and canoeing with his family in the Adirondacks.

Ron's sense of social responsibility led him to perform his life's work as a social worker for the Oneida County Department of Social Services where he worked for 25 years as an advocate of children, retiring as a caseworker supervisor in 2013.

Ron continued his life's journey where he shared a longtime companionship with Gaelynn "Sundee" Fanelli.

Ron is survived by Sundee, his parents Russell and Theresa, his son Carroll Andrew Denison and his wife Nicole Davis, his daughter Kathleen V. "Katie" Denison and fiancé Lindsey Anderson, his sister Marcia Drost, and his brother Russell "Rusty" Denison.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Robert and Lyndal (Cranson) Denison.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Church, 34 Monroe Ave., Shelburne Falls, MA

There are no calling hours.

Ron will be laid to rest with his family at the West Leyden Cemetery following the funeral Mass.
