Mary Ann (Graves) Bruffee, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 6, 2016.

She was born in Conway on August 27, 1931 the daughter of Lyman and Gladys (Boyden) Graves. She was raised on the Sunnyside Dairy Farm and had many fond memories of growing up a farm girl and loved to tell stories about her childhood.

Mary graduated from Arms Academy as a member of the class of 1949 and was voted Best All Around by her classmates. She was active in softball and basketball and was envied for her "wavy hair" and excellent grades. She went on to graduate from the Deaconess School of Nursing in Boston in 1952. Following graduation she worked as a registered nurse at the Franklin County Public Hospital in Greenfield and later at the Anchorage Nursing Home in Shelburne.

On March 8, 1952 she was married to Walter E. Bruffee and together raised a family of five children. During these years she was an active member of Trinity Church teaching Sunday school and providing childcare services.

Mary loved to garden, knit and was an avid reader. Most of all, Mary loved spending time with her children and grandchildren whom she cherished greatly. She also cherished her cat Alice.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years Walt, her parents and sister Christine.

Survivors include her children; Christine (Frank) Karas, Jane (Paul) Lofria, Kay (PJ) Herbert, Thomas Bruffee and partner John Dorazio, and Matthew (Nicola) Bruffee, grandchildren and great grandchildren; Heather Loomis, Sarah Frost, Benjamin, Tatiana, and Matthew Karas, Katherine and Chuck Chmura, Rachael and Samuel Lofria, Josie Bruffee, Hannah Chase, Lindsae Loomis, Cyril Soper and Huck Karas, her sisters Martha (Roger) Varnot and Cynthia (Tom) Cranston and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be private.
