Lorna Doone (Brant) Szafran

Lorna Doone Szafran (Brant), 79, went home to be present with the Lord on Friday, November 17, 2017 at her home in the loving care of her son and friends. 

She was born in Hammond, Indiana, September 17, 1938 to James and Lorna Brant. She graduated from Charlemont High School and attended Mt. Ida College and Boston University.

Most recently she was employed as a service clerk for Big Y where she looked forward to chatting with customers as they came through her line. Prior to this she was a respected bar manager for many years at Alberti's where she ran a tight ship. Each morning she enjoyed her morning cup of coffee while doing her daily crossword puzzle before going to work. Most of all she enjoyed her family. She especially loved watching her grandson play ball, whether it was baseball or basketball you would find her faithfully on the sidelines cheering loudly for whatever team he was on. She also loved being with her church family which was an intricate part of her life.

Lorna is survived by her son, Robert Szafran and his wife Tammy, her grandson Daniel Szafran of whom she was so proud, sisters; Marlith McIntosh of Allen, TX, Donna (John) Shippee of Buckland, Frances Sessions of Greenfield, a brother William (Amy) Brant of Palm Coast, FL, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Jacqueline Anderson and June Pease as well as brother James Brant.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Colrain Community Church, 306 Main Rd., Colrain on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 1:00 pm, with reception to follow.
