Howard C Crowningshield, 85, passed away on Monday 1/22 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Howard was born June 8, 1932, the son of the late Arthur & Mildred Crowningshield of Heath where Howard grew up.
Howard was a graduate of the Arms Academy class of 1950. While at Arms, he was a member of the FFA and won a trip to Ohio through judging cattle.
He was a member of the Heath Union Church, Heath Grange, an Assessor for the Town of Heath and was previously active in the Heath Fair.
Howard was a farmer, carpenter and avid woodworker and previously enjoyed bowling, dancing and snowmobiling but most enjoyed spending time with his family.
He married Jeanette Newberry in May 1972 and they enjoyed 45 years together first in Heath and then moved to Rowe in 1991.
Howard leaves his wife Jeanette, his children Linda (& Wayne) Stickney of Dunnellon FL, Steve (& Debbie) of Rowe, Sandy of Whitingham VT, and Heidi (& Kelly) Griswold of Heath. He also leaves two stepsons, Robert Belval of East Fairfield VT and Darryl Belval of Halifax VT and one brother, Francis (& Sandra) of Brandywine MD, 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Howard was also predeceased by his son Doug and his siblings Fred, Earle, Robert & Phyllis.
Calling hours will be Thursday 1/25 from 6 – 8 pm at Smith Kelleher Funeral home in Shelburne. A celebration of life will be held on Friday 1/26 at 11 am at the Heath Union Church, Heath. Burial will be in the spring in North Heath Cemetery.
