Ellen M. (O'Keefe) Hartwig

     Ellen M. (O’Keefe) Hartwig, 79. of 1463 Mohawk Trail, died Saturday April 1, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

     Ellen was born in Indonesia on September 2, 1937 the daughter of Dean and Johanna O’Keefe.

     On April 6, 1960 she was married to Robert Hartwig. They were married for nearly 53 years prior to his passing on March 17, 2013.

     They moved to this area from Watertown, MA in 1986 when they purchased the Old Willow Restaurant and Motel. Ellen was still operating the business until the day she died. She truly enjoyed seeing her regular customers and talking about anything and everything.

     Survivors include her children; son Carl Hartwig of Framingham, daughter Amanda Nash and her husband Philip of Chelmsford, daughter Lillian Pippos of Charlemont, as well as her grandchildren; Billy Noke, Cassandra Pippos, Breanna Atkins, Ethan Nash and Evan Nash, a sister Laura Pizzi of Charlemont, a son-in-law Bill Noke of Waltham, and nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her husband Robert, Ellen was predeceased by a daughter Monica Noke in December of 2011.

     A gathering of family and friends will take place Tuesday, April 4 at the Old Willow Restaurant on Route 2 in Charlemont, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm.
