Donald H Tatro

Donald H. Tatro, 81, passed away Monday, November 23, 2015. He was born in Northampton on September 24, 1934, the son of Frank and Carolyn (Cross) Tatro.

Don served with the US Army as a Field Medic during the Vietnam war. His service was from June 11, 1957 until June 10, 1963.

Prior to his retirement in 1995, Don was employed by the former Kendall Mills which later became American Fiber and Finishing, in Griswoldville for 36 years. After retirement he worked part-time for Mole Hollow Candle in Shelburne Falls as well as custodial work for the Town of Colrain.

Don enjoyed gardening and just being outside.

Don is survived by his wife, the former Gloria Herzig whom he married on June 29, 1968. He also leaves his son Dennis (Laurie) Tatro of Saxtons River, VT, his daughter Dawn (Jason) Haskins of Colrain, six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his four brothers and sister.

Visiting hours will be Friday, November 27, from 6 to 8 pm at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 40 Church St., Shelburne Falls.

A funeral service will take place Saturday, November 28, at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial services will follow in West Branch Cemetery in Colrain.
